Beep & Pixel is a free website that helps children discover coding through play. It was made by people who think every child should get the chance to tell a computer what to do, and to feel the thrill when it works.
Meet the team (well, sort of)
Beep is a robot who takes every instruction literally. That makes Beep the perfect partner for learning to code, because computers do exactly what you tell them, not what you meant. Beep loves batteries, gears and saying “Beep boop!”
Pixel is a cat made of tiny coloured squares, just like the pictures on your screen. Pixel is brilliant at spotting patterns and bugs, and is usually either solving a puzzle or having a nap.
Beep and Pixel aren’t real, of course. But they’re very real to us!
What we believe
- Coding is for everyone. No special gadgets needed: lots of our activities use just paper and pencils.
- Mistakes are how you learn. Every bug you fix makes you a better coder.
- Kids deserve a safe internet. No ads, no accounts, no comments, no tracking.
- It should be correct. Every piece of code on this site was run before it was published.
Made with code
Every picture on Beep & Pixel was drawn by computer programs we wrote: the mascots, the mazes, the pixel art, the fractals and the turtle spirals. The puzzles were built by programs too, and each answer was checked by the computer. Even the little font in the pictures was designed one pixel at a time.
